PS2 Maintenance

Maintenance tips for the PS2, in case it struggles to read originals or backups.

Basic maintenance

Open the PS2 (6 screws in the back for a Slim) and:

• clean the laser lens with alcohol
• wipe the sliding rails from dust/crap and lubricate again if dried out

Laser lens voltage calibration

The trick above works in the vast majority of time, but if not, the DVD and CD pots needs to be adjusted and tested with a multimeter to reach a specific setting.
